The water levels in the dams supplying water have risen above 20 percent
The average water level in the dams supplying water to Istanbul has exceeded 20 percent again for the first time in 50 days, thanks to the rainfall in the last week.
According to data from the Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration (İSKİ), the water level in the dams, which had fallen below 20 percent during the dry months of November and December, has started to rise again in the last 14 days.
The water level in the dams supplying water to the city was measured at 19.24 percent yesterday, and with the continuing rainfall, it increased by 0.87 percent to 20.11 percent as of today.
The water level in the dams last dropped to 17 percent on November 23, 2025, and has now risen above 20 percent again after 50 days.
Water levels were calculated as follows: Ömerli 25.17%, Darlık 31.51%, Elmalı 61.29%, Terkos 15.95%, Alibey 13.24%, Büyükçekmece 16.27%, Sazlıdere 13.39%, Istrancalar 42.29%, Kazandere 5.69%, and Pabuçdere 6.08%.
The dams and reservoirs supplying water to Istanbul have a total storage capacity of 868,683,000 cubic meters, while the current water level was measured at 174.5 million cubic meters.
Water consumption in the city was calculated as 3,001,000 cubic meters yesterday.
According to İSKİ (Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration) statistics, as of January 11th, dam occupancy rates were recorded as follows: 63.88% in 2016, 59.86% in 2017, 66.09% in 2018, 87.72% in 2019, 52.42% in 2020, 21.13% in 2021, 27.81% in 2022, 31.56% in 2023, 57.01% in 2024, 41.74% in 2025, and 20.11% in 2026. This rate is the lowest recorded in the last 10 years.
